On any given day there is so much to think about, so much to digest that we might be tempted to ignore or suppress everything. When an infant experiences too much stimulation it sleeps to get away from everything. That is similar to what our minds might do when we have a little too much going on at once.
If you happen to be a very passionate person, it’s probably much worse. There are so many people in this world who need assistance, so many wrongs to right, and causes to fight for or against. Trying to prioritize everything you want to do can be confusing. It’s much too easy to get wrapped back up in our own little worlds where we usually have plenty to worry about without adding more. The world is a much smaller place though than it ever was before. Internet connects us to various places around the world and we’re able to learn and forge friendships with people of all cultures and from all walks of life. Now more than ever, it seems even more important to be aware of all the current events because we are all effected—at least to a small degree—by these events.
We are all interconnected in some way, especially after the way the internet has transformed relationships. We are no longer individual islands safely cocooned in our own little universe. We are individual strands of a complex and delicate webbing. If we harm a strand it makes the webbing a more precarious place to traverse. If we were to give into the feelings of being overwhelmed by the sheer amount of things to care about in the world, we risk more strands of the webbing falling apart. Any effort at all can help, even if we can’t always see the results. We can transform the world into something better, one community at a time, both online and out in the “real world”. That realization is what gives me hope. I’ll keep trying no matter how little success I might have because to remain silent about the things which matter most is to give approval to them, and to allow a future world that perhaps no one would want to inhabit. Contemplating a lot of stuff lately and I think (if I remember) that I’ll investigate what “being awesome” means to me. The world is full of awesome people and I want to make sure that I help as many webbing strands as possible. We all make a difference, and that’s pretty amazing.
Hope you all have a stupendously amazing, out-of-this-world week!
